Our Little chicks aren't that little anymore!

Our chicks have moved outside and are really growing fast.  They always seem to find ways to get out of there pen, and it's really hard to get them back in.  But they are so cute and when you settle them on your shoulder you can just cuddle them with your cheek.  Our tamest are Bobby our rooster, and Tamie.  Bob doesn't really like being held but Tamie loves it.  Bobby just likes eating scratch out of our hands.  Hey!........................................Gee, Yah!...............................................Get! Gee, shoo! ..................................Yah! ..........................................................Shoo!............. Get in there!.. ....

Whoo!  Sorry about that!  All the noise you just heard was us herding about all 25 of our little chickies back in to the pen.  Someone had left the pen door wide open and they were all up and in the woods, around the pen, and the bolder ones wandering in to the orchard.  It was hard work getting them back in!

And to get back to what I was saying, Bobby isn't that fond of being held. Here are a couple pictures of our chicks.

Bob is the brown and white one with his leg up.

This is Tamie. She is the tamest.

Tamie is always on the alert.

This is baby, the smallest of them all.

Hello Tamie!
When these white ones were little they were yellow.

I think this one is one of the prettiest.

No I am the prettiest!!!

Hazel!

A trip to Grandfather

Yesterday we went to Grandfather Mountain.  It was very fun.  It was our first time and we learned a lot of new things about it.
This was a huge tree that Noah was afraid there were snakes in.

The museum was very fun.

This huge crystal was really neat!

Moses checks out the Gold.

This bear and her cubs were really cute.

This was in the bear habitat.

The cougar habitat.

The otter habitat was closed so there were know otters  there, but is was still interesting to look into the water.

Finally we were ready to got to the bridge......

If you had not noticed, it was looking a little stormy in the last picture.

When we got to the bridge it was about to rain and
it was really windy.  Ruthie and Sarah cried as soon as they saw it.  Mamma didn't really want us to go on very much because the entrance wasn't safe and the wind was getting a little bit higher.

It was a little bit scary but the view was beautiful.  To bad we didn't get to go on it, but maybe next time. :)

The view to the left.

The view to the right.

The bridge.

We had a lot of fun visiting Grandfather, and I hope to go there again soon.

Magic kit

Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 11.  I got a kit with lots of magic tricks.  It was so fun I went ahead and learned all the tricks, and did a magic show that night.  It was very fun.

Other then some new chicks, quite a few bangs and crashes a day, plus the exciting new pitchfork, we live a very peaceful life.

These are our new little chicks.

Dishsoap Hoppin' John

Recently we have had a couple dishsoap meals make there way to the table.  I think it was because whoever washed the pot did not rinse in all the way.  It was my night to make supper, and I put the rice and beans in different pots to cook.  What I didn't know was, the rice pot still had dishsoap in it.  I mixed them all in with the sauce I had made out of Onions, olive oil and hot sauce.  I dished it out on to the plates in a hurry, (we had company coming,) and we all sat down.  As soon as every one took a bite, we ran to the kitchen and spit it out.

Spring is in the air!

Yesterday we found some frog eggs.  They were mostly near the edge of the pond.  Some of them looked more ready to hatch then others.  It was pretty warm yesterday.  I got a couple pictures.

It was brighter then it looks!

Our boat is made out of the base of our broken basket ball goal.

Henry and Lady are getting along just fine.

I have heard that poodles are smart, but I didn't know that they were this smart!
This is what happened when Sarah cut her own hair.
Lady sticks half her body trough the railing when she wants to get down, but is scared to come down the steps.  Its a little bit scary.

These were all pictures from that last few days.

House pets

We have two dogs two chickens and four fish.  Henry and Lady (our two dogs), are getting along fine together.  When we first got Lady, Henry wasn't to sure about her, but now they are best friends.
Henry has two large bones, and he likes sharing them with Lady.
Our two chickens, Hazel and Tin-hen, are a little bit shy, but they know to stay where the food comes from.  They like eating Henry's food, (only they don't know that it is mostly chicken!)  They are always together and it seem like they can stand almost any weather!

Lady

Yesterday we got a new dog!  She is a black standard poodle puppy.  She is about 14 weeks old and very soft and silky.  Her name is Lady.
We went to Lexington, SC to pick her up.  She is a darling little thing, and pretty shy.  She had three brothers and sisters left when we got her.  We had seen a picture of her chocolate colored sister, and were planning to get that one.  We were going to name her Cocoa.  However, when we got there, we fell in love with the black one, and ended up coming home with Lady.  We liked the beautiful color of the chocolate one, but Lady was more playful, and her fur was soft and silky.  The chocolate had fur that was more wiry and coarse.  I wish I had pictures of her playing with her brothers and sisters!  They were so cute!
Last night she was going to sleep in the girls bathroom, but was so lonely that she ended up on a towel on my bed.  She likes it very much!  I had to hang sheets around it to keep her away!  Today we plan to go to the store and get her a kennel and some more puppy food.  She is still adjusting to a new home, but she is very sweet!
Lady is learning to get along with our other dog, Henry.  He isn't quite sure about her yet and keeps a close eye on her!
She hasn't really met our two chickens, Hazel and Tin-Hen, yet, but I am sure she will in time.  We will probably have to teach her not to chase them like we taught Henry!
That's all for now, but I will try to write again and tell you how she is doing!
